Founded in 2005, Etsy, an American e-commerce platform, is a perfect place for customers and creators. According to similarweb, over 300 million people visit Etsy monthly, staying for over 6 minutes on the website.

For many customers Etsy is known as a source of handmade gifts, while the platform is a profitable niche for those who can (or want to) create digital downloads.

Creating digital downloads has many advantages, and with the help of modern tools and platforms available nowadays you do not need to be a graphic designer to create nice digital download products your customers will love. If you do not want to invest time and money in familiarising yourself with Canva or other tools, you can outsource this task to freelancers on Upwork.

I started to sell on Etsy a few months ago and, I had my first sale within first 2 weeks, and comparing earning on Etsy to other streams of income, I can say that the platform is one of the most passive forms. My success was found thanks to free courses I had completed before I launched my Etsy shop.

One of the best Etsy printable courses was created by Nancy Badillo, here is her YouTube channel which I highly recommend. Nancy has created a free and paid version of the course on how to sell printables on Etsy. When I was completing her free Etsy start up course, the paid was not available yet. On her YouTube channel two playlists will be helpful for beginners: Etsy SEO (32 videos) and Etsy course (19 videos) with very detailed information, including tons of examples. Just this course helped me build my Etsy shop in the most effective way. Now, I get over 80% of my traffic via Etsy, and 20% is generated by other channels, whichmeans Etsy SEO explained by Nancy really works. Knowing Etsy SEO also helps me to do my research to know what digital downloads are worth my time and efforts. You will learn all of this and other important things you need to know from the free Etsy training course created by Nancy.

If you want to dig deeper and learn how you can use Canva and other tools for your Etsy business, then consider buying the paid Etsy course by Nancy.

Handmade Bosses is another YouTube channel where you will find tons of useful information on how to improve Etsy shop performance. Steph, who has been running her business on Etsy since 2016, has not created such impressive playlists like Nancy has, but shares many secrets you cannot find on Nancy’s channel.

Alissa Rose’s channel on YouTube is my 3rd source of information about Etsy that I visit now and again. Although her channel is the youngest, I found some interesting and inspired ideas here.

Let’s wrap up. If you are considering starting your Etsy business on digital downloads, a free or paid Etsy printable course by Nancy Badillo should be your first step. Once you launch your shop on Etsy, all three channels will inspire you and give you ideas on how to boost your sales on Etsy.
