You have probably read that if you wish to run your blog successfully, you will need SEO. If you think Yoast plugin is the best solution, you are wrong.

You do not need to know all aspects of SEO if you are not planning to promote online shops or international projects. However, you need to know more than only keywords and H1-H6.

If you want to improve your SEO skills, there are a few ways to do so. You can read books or blogs, you can participate in training or courses, or you can outsource SEO. Even if you decide to outsource your blog optimisation, you need to know how to control the quality of work.

The Art of SEO: Mastering Search Engine Optimization was written by Eric Enge, Rand Fishkin (ex Moz co founder), Jessie C. Stricchiola, Stephan Spencer, and is one of the most comprehensive guide I can recommend particular for those who are starting their journey.

I came across this book when I was already experienced in SEO, and I wish I had known about it before. What I like the most is the structure of the book that covers all important issues stepwise.  If you do not plan to consult or offer your SEO services, there is no need to spend long hours trying to understand every detail. However, you need a clear understanding of redirects, canonicals, duplicated content and how to avoid it, page speed, dofollow, nofollow and noindex, and more.

I would say that you should read the book even before you create your first blog, as understanding the site structure will help you reach TOP faster, and avoid potential problems in the future.

The book covers aspects of SEO such as site structure, keywords and texts, link analysis, search intent, crawling and indexing, search operator techniques, SEO tools, and others.
